To me being a Christian means being consumed by the creator of all things rather than being consumed by all things created. It means experiencing the presence of Jesus in my daily life, allowing Him to break through the barriers I throw up around myself. Mutual indwelling - Jesus living in me and vice versa.

I must admit I do not open the Bible that often today - I believe in a living Bible - the word of God is not limited to the Old & New Testament. I hear God speaking to me from many places - guiding me in the path of Grace, Peace and Love. I am not saying I always listen but I try to do my best.

I hope that the "Church" was not founded in 1902 as you suggest John. Remember the Church is not a building! I remember vividly as a 7 year old my mother complaining that my so called "Christian" friends did not go to "Church". I replied "No Mum they are the Church". The Church was founded over 2,000 years ago when Jesus proclaimed the idiot fisherman "The Rock" or "Peter" the foundation. Since then we have been constantly following Peter's steps, making a hash of things (see Peter's comments at the transfiguration - what a fool), denying we even know Jesus (yes my brothers and sisters I weep as I hear the cock crow!). Jesus is so ironic - Simon Peter a rock on which he builds his Church!! Yet here we are thousands of years later following Jesus the fool (see St Francis of Assisi - that is my middle name by the way - the name my Mother insisted on - I will always be God's fool like brother Francis). St Peter for me is the great parable of the Catholic Church - having been born and bred a Catholic I know this too well. The love and peace of Christ to you all but remember those bricks are only a building - the Church is God's people - the Saints and the Sinners - of which I am the least of!! Paul Gayton (Roaming Catholic and grateful to attend CRMC each week with my family).
