Rev Colin Barrett took up his appointment as minister at Chilwell Road, Rylands and Wollaton Road Methodist Churches on September 1, 2011. He lives in the church manse in Beeston with his wife, Muriel.
Colin Barrett, whose father was a Methodist minister and was in Clifton during the 1960s, spent some of his teenage years in the Nottingham area and worked for a time in a Building Society in Beeston, starting a career which lasted 18 years.
In 1990 he started full-time training for the Methodist ministry at Hartley Victoria College, Manchester. From 1992 – 2004 Colin was minister at two different churches in Wolverhampton. Colin and Muriel were accepted as Mission Partners and trained for a year, which included learning German, in preparation for Colin’s appointment in 2005 as minister to 2 small churches in Brand Erbisdorf, close to Dresden and the Erzgebirge, Germany.
Colin is settling in to his ministry in Beeston and enjoying his hobbies of walking, photography, and travelling, and pursuing his interests in translation and gardening, and renewing closer links with his family.
