Many members of our congregation have maintained their link with Beeston since they were students in Meth Soc at Nottingham University (which used to meet at Chilwell Road).
One student from the seventies is honoured today by his appointment as Deputy Lieutenant for the county. David Stewart OBE DLitt is head teacher at Oak Field School & Sports College in Bilborough (previously Shepherd School), and distinguished for his work in special education. Several Chilwell Road members are connected with Oak Field School as teachers and friends, and there are still a few who were David’s student contemporaries.
